1 Objectives

The objective of the course is to introduce participants to the Companies Act and the practical application for Accountants. It is essential for individuals who are going to be directors and who will be involved in the day to day running of the Company. It is primarily targeted at Senior Accountants, Senior Managers and Chief Financial Officers who will be involved in decision making and running of their respective companies.

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to explain the liabilities and duties of director’s duties. The principle of corporate governance and the important provisions under the Companies Act and Insider Trading Act, DNO Insurance and avoiding liability and ensuring corporate transparency. Candidates would have appreciated the importance of director’s duties and issues involved in it. It is providing valuable lessons and approaches on how accountants should discharge their director’s duties and approach corporate governance issues.

Mr. David Shanmugam

David holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of London and Master of Business Administration degree from Victoria University. He has many years of experience in the private sector and he is presently working as an in house Legal Counsel for a local company.
Over the years, he has conducted legal training for the corporate sector on the various practical legal issues facing the corporate field and has lectured for many training institutions, on Business and Company Law. His forte is in the field of corporate and commercial drafting of contracts, including company matters. Mr. David Shanmugam has conducted legal training programmes for Singapore Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, National University of Singapore Continuing Education and for the Singapore Manufacturing Association.
