The impact of the global economic slowdown is gaining momentum after several financial and multinational companies announcement of jobs cut. Economic indicators are showing that it will get worse in 2009!

Based on a survey by TNS and Gallup International, just 30 per cent of Singaporean workers think there is a chance they might join the ranks of the unemployed this year.
• But if they do get retrenched, the majority fear it would take them a long time before they secure another job.
• More than three quarters (78 per cent) say that unemployment will rise this year.
• Singaporeans also expect this year to be worse for them than last year.

Jocelyn Lim

Jocelyn Lim's professional background includes being a Certified Public Accountant (Singapore), Certified Financial Planner (Malaysia), Chartered Financial Consultant (US), Fellow Member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (UK), Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner, a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (MSID) and a MBTI(R) accredited instructor.
Jocelyn was also an ex-founding director and ex-chairperson of Professional Investment Advisory Services Pte Ltd. She was the founding chairperson of Singapore Women in Finance, an interest group under the Singapore Business & Professional Women's Association, and the Vice-Chair of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant's (ACCA) SME committee.
Jocelyn has lectured with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants training division for five years where she taught the subjects of Singapore Taxation and Financial Accounting for CIMA, ATTs, AAT and CPE courses.
