COURSE OVERVIEW

Baking is the harmonious combination of the right ingredients, precise measurements, techniques, chemistry, and a dose of creativity.

In this WSQ certified Basic Pastry Preparation course, you will learn about the principles, methods, techniques and recipes for making six different types of pastry products. Mould yourself into a confident pastry chef through the hands-on preparation of various doughs and batters, applying the mixing, piping and baking methods in the basic pastry making processes.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

- Make basic cake in accordance with the industrial standards

- Make cookies in accordance with the industrial standards

- Make muffins and scones in accordance with the industrial standards

- Make tarts and short-crust pastries in accordance with the industrial standards

- Make choux pastries in accordance with the industrial standards

ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 

• Age 21 and above

• Education level: Primary education

• Learners have attained competency in Fundamental Pastry Preparation course (Level 1 or equivalent) or

have knowledge and experience in preparing fundamental pastry products

• Workplace Literacy & Numeracy level: At least level 2 (listening / speaking and reading / writing)
